The visit of the CNRS Research Officer, Alain Schuhl, to Warsaw on February 21, 2020 is part of a strongly supported dynamic of dialogue and cooperation between France and Poland.
The signing of a letter of intent with the University of Warsaw, Sorbonne University and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) is a first step towards a partnership in humanities and social sciences in order to jointly develop an international research center resulting from the transformation of the Centre for French Civilisation and Francophone Studies (CCFEF) of the University of Warsaw, on the basis of what has already been accomplished by the University of Warsaw, Sorbonne University and the MEAE.
This project of “French-Polish Centre for Research in Humanities and Social Sciences (Michel Foucault Centre at the University of Warsaw)” will thus strengthen scientific exchanges and collaborations between Poland and France, and more broadly at the European level.
The Centre for French Civilisation and Francophone Studies (CCFEF) is a Franco-Polish laboratory of humanities and social sciences at the University of Warsaw, a major player in the scientific and intellectual relationship between Poland and France. It was created in 1958 on the basis of a French-Polish agreement by the famous philosopher, historian and sociologist Michel Foucault, who then became its first director. The Centre is currently directed by Nicolas Maslowski. The CCFEF plays a pivotal role in the European university pilot project, the 4EU+ Alliance, which brings together leading universities in Europe, including Sorbonne University and the University of Warsaw.
