The signing of this agreement for the creation of the “CNRS-Imperial for Transformational Science and Technology” IRC, the first of its kind in Europe, is a major turning point in the cooperation between CNRS and Imperial. It strengthens the partnership between the two institutions.
This IRC will build on the rich and diverse foundation of existing collaborations, particularly in the mathematical and quantitative sciences, to have a transformative impact for the benefit of society worldwide. It will foster the development of new scientific projects and joint initiatives over the long term by leveraging our complementary strengths.
This strong anchoring will fuel the scientific relations between France and the United Kingdom. This new scientific hub will also stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration and aim to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its research. The launch event of this IRC took place in London on April 8 at Imperial for a workshop and then at the French Embassy for the launch celebration. The numerous researchers from CNRS and Imperial were thus able to exchange on topics of common interest.
